The development of a bone stapler
The development process of a bone stapler
Design development based on new mechanism
The bone stapler is an instrument to connect the skull in brain surgery. Titanium plates and screws were traditionally used for the task, and this is the world's first staple type product. We developed design ideas to make the mechanism function. One of the ideas was selected, confirmed on 2D rendering, and carried on to 3D engineering design and data generation steps.
Engineering design of the internal mechanism
Using the 3D CAD NX, we designed the internal mechanism and generated the data for a working mockup (prototype).
Engineering design of body covering
Based on the 2D CAD drawings, the surface form data of the body covering was generated on the NX, and the technical design of the packaging was completed.
